The Ivy League canceled its season, but its grad transfers are making an impact across the nation

The Ivy League canceled its season, but its grad transfers are making an impact across the nation Updated Dec 15, 2020; Posted Dec 15, 2020 Facebook Share Brendan Barry had a lot of options last spring. The 6-foot-1 shooting guard from Fair Haven could have graduated from Dartmouth College and transferred to a high-major basketball program like Temple or Wake Forest. He was in high demand after making 81 three-pointers during the 2018-19 season, shooting 45% from beyond the arc and averaging 13.2 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. But after sitting out last season following preseason hip surgery, Barry, 23, opted in March to remain at Dartmouth instead of transferring. He’s a loyal guy and wanted to stick it out with the Big Green.

Fairhaven fire chief to retire, successor named

FAIRHAVEN  Fairhaven Fire Chief Timothy Francis will step down Jan. 8 I’ve been a firefighter for over 40 years. It’s time for a change in leadership. It’s my time to enjoy life more and not be tied to a radio 24 hours a day,” said Francis. Todd Correia, chosen to be acting fire chief beginning Jan. 8, has been deputy chief since July 2015 and has 27 years of experience with the Fairhaven Fire Department.  He will finish with the assessment portion of his chief’s civil service exam by next year.  “I know I’m leaving the department in good hands,” said Francis, who’s been grooming and mentoring Correia to be fire chief the last several years.
